Welcome to Book Loon, a blog for anyone who is crazy about children's books!
The blog focuses on 'Middle Grade' books which I'm defining, very loosely, as books aimed at readers from the age of eight up to early(ish) teens. Middle grade readers actually go up to as old as you can think, as many adults (I'm allegedly a grown-up myself) also like reading these books.
Classification:
New books are those published in the last year.
Classics are books that have been around for a while and are standing the test of time.
OMG! relates to books at the upper end of the category - either because of the themes or because of the complexity of ideas and language.
8+ are books at the lower end of the category because of simplicity of language. They are likely to be illustrated.
Series fiction - my policy is to only review the first book in a series due to there being too many books and not enough time! If you read subsequent books in a series, and want to let people know about them, why not write a guest post for me?
Although the main focus of the blog is book reviews, I also hope to include some author interviews and posts about what makes a good children's book.
